One of the largest meteorite strewn fields ever found, and with an interior that can literally light up with stunning chondrules and brecciation. Our split stones, whole stones and slices really do stand out in any display, and we have them prepared in one of the top laboratories in the United States prior to shipping to you.
Northwest Africa 869 shows a unique blue-grey fusion crust, making it an interesting addition to displays of ordinary chondrites. When cut and polished and properly prepared in the lab, however, its interior delights with an inexplicable kaleidoscope of brecciation, abundant metal flakes, clasts, and a sea of colourful chondrules of varying sizes and hue. We consider NWA 869 to have one of the most attractive interiors of any chondrite. The stones are prepared especially for Aerolite from individuals hand selected by company owner, Geoff Notkin — to show this fascinating chondrite at its absolute best. All pieces have been expertly prepared by one of our top labs and meticulously finished on a diamond lap to the very highest standards.
